Happy Fire Safety Month

What a fun day at Erie Elementary.  To celebrate Fire Prevention month, the Erie firefighters came to visit today!  They talked to grades Pre-K though 4th grade and discussed important fire safety rules and the procedures to follow in case of an emergency.  This week in the classroom, we have also been learning abut fire safety.  Students listened to a cute 911 rap song, completed a I SHOULD vs. I SHOULDN'T fire safety sort, complied a list of adjectives to describe a fire fighter, went on a fire safety word hunt, and made their very own fire helmet.

Creepy Carrots

This might just be my new favorites book. I had so much fun reading this story aloud to the class. My students each designed their very own creepy carrot and also wrote about how they would stop those creepy carrots from getting them.

Spookley Read Aloud

Today we read Spookley The Square Pumpkin. What a cute read aloud. As a class, we discussed the main character and setting. My students also identified the problem and solution in the story. Check out the cute Spookley craft the kids made.

Science Update.....

Over the past couple of weeks in science, we have been exploring animal needs, categorizing animal groups, and learning about some of their life cycles. It has been a fun science unit to teach and hopefully just as much fun for the kids to learn. Here are a few pics of our frog and butterfly life cycle projects. We also learned a couple of really fun songs. Click on the links below to check out the songs.

Adjectives

This week in grammar we are focusing on adjectives. My students are learning about adding details to a sentences by using adjectives to describe a noun. Earlier this week we colored lollipops and brainstormed adjectives to describe what our 🍭 looked like and how they tasted. Students also illustrated a noun in their journal and then came up with 4 adjectives to describe their noun. Finally, we used adjectives to describe ourselves and made an "About Me" craft.
