We are “ANT”sy for 2nd grade!

21 days and counting. These kiddos are excited about reading chapter books, learning cursive, and wondering who their teacher will be next year! I’m sure going to miss each and everyone of them.

Fractions

In math this week, we have been discussing fractions. We read the book titled GIVE ME HALF, did a lot of fraction sorting, and divided graham crackers into halves and fourths. Students also colored fraction pizzas.

A big thank you to Braylon and his family for sponsoring our Scholastic book this month. I read Moosetache to the class this morning and everyone got to take their very own copy home.

Arbor Day

The high school NHS visited the elementary and presented a lesson on Arbor Day. They did a great job and we enjoyed learning about the importance of trees 🌲 🌳 🌲 🌳

What Does The SHAPE Say?

We turned our 2D shapes into foxes 🦊! We also danced to one of our favorite songs “What does the fox say?” Then students wrote about the attributes of their favorite shape.

Check out our very first Addition Math Ninja Master! Conner has completed all of his addition fact timed tests and will be moving on to subtraction facts. Way to go buddy!!!!

Strong Sentences

First grade has been working on writing STRONG 💪 sentences using lots of details and prepositional phrases. Check out these creative “strong” sentences students wrote today. These cool robot stickers helped us get started.

Snowball Fight

Now this is my type of snow!!!!! Our phonics lesson included an indoor snowball fight today=). Students threw paper snowballs at each other and then when I said stop they had to work as a team to match up the words to create compound words.
