Last week, students learned about author's purpose. We discussed that when an author writes a story, they are either writing to persuade, entertain, or inform the reader. We had lots of practice identifying author's purpose throughout the week and concluded the week with a couple writing activities. Each student was encouraged to write an entertaining, informing, and persuading sentence about candy corn. Of course, they had the most fun writing their entertaining sentences! We also made a pencil craft with flip up flaps that described the different types of author's purpose and wrote an entertaining, informing, and persuading sentence about pencils. I am so proud of all of their hard work and excellent listening ears!
