My students worked very hard drawing and coloring their jack-o-lanterns. To their surprise, I asked them to crumple them up and rip them into pieces. Oh boy.... some students were not happy. We discussed how we might feel if someone smashed the real pumpkins that we worked so hard to carve. To go along with our activity, students got creative and brainstormed lots of ideas on how a pumpkin could be smashed. Each student wrote about three things that happened to their poor pumpkin. It was a fun little twist on this Halloween pumpkin activity.
