Adjectives

This week in grammar we are focusing on adjectives. My students are learning about adding details to a sentences by using adjectives to describe a noun. Earlier this week we colored lollipops and brainstormed adjectives to describe what our 🍭 looked like and how they tasted. Students also illustrated a noun in their journal and then came up with 4 adjectives to describe their noun. Finally, we used adjectives to describe ourselves and made an "About Me" craft.

E is for EGG

Spelling Time!!!Another week...another vowel! This week we are focusing on the short e vowel. Students were busy this morning making hens and nests full of short e spelling word eggs! We will also be playing some of our favorite spelling games like "Sparkle" and "Slap It" later this week.

Sentence Buddies

Do you know how to write a sentence??? WE DO!!! Check out our sentence buddies. We even learned a fun chant to remind us about capital letter and punctuation.

Learning Is Yummy

We read Peanut Butter and Cupcake! by Terry Border and completed a very yummy "How To...." activity today involving PB&J. Students illustrated and wrote about the steps you need to follow in order to make a PB&J sandwich. Students used the key words FIRST, NEXT, THEN, and LAST to retell the steps to make a PB&J. During this activity, our tummies were growling and I think we were all ready for lunch.

O for Octopus

Last week in phonics and spelling we focused on the short o vowel. Each student made a cute octopus with their spelling words written on the ink clouds and we also did a short o rhyming word sort.
